Goals: Interaction and collaboration with others are essential prerequisites for (student) learning. A targeted use of methods and tools for (online) cooperation supports not only the learning process but also student motivation. This is especially important in the online setting which lacks opportunities for incidental and informal contact. In this course you will learn how to guide students’ collaboration in synchronous and asynchronous online settings. Content: different methods for guiding collaborative work, interactive learning, supporting group work, student motivation, social presence, wording of tasks, online tools for synchronous and asynchronous collaboration (e.g. BigBlueButton, etherpad, padlet, miro, mentimeter etc. and moodle activities). We will cover research and theoretical background of social learning. However, our main focus is the transfer to your own teaching practice. The course will be a very interactive one and there will be room for your questions and interests.
