The primary objective of this course is to close the digital skills gap in the construction and manufacturing industries by delivering specialized training in Digital Twins (DT) powered by Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows and adapted learning objectives as well as competencies. With this, we aim to address the pressing need for upskilling and reskilling in a rapidly transforming technological landscape, ensuring that learners are equipped with cutting-edge digital competencies that align with industry demands. Steaming from a strong industry-academia partnership, the curriculum integrates innovative learning pathways designed to ensure that learners receive a balanced, industry-relevant education.
- Upskill Students with Cutting-Edge Digital Skills by directly targeting university students and providing them with state-of-the-art knowledge and tools to excel in the fields of construction, manufacturing, and heritage conservation, ready to meet the demands of a rapidly changing job market.
- Empower Industry Professionals through Upskilling by catering to adult learners and professionals who require upskilling to remain competitive. We account for the needs of individuals already employed in construction, heritage, or manufacturing sectors who need to adopt new tools and processes, particularly those involving BIM and Digital Twins.
- Promote Lifelong Learning and Digital Awareness for learners with a passion for digital technologies and sustainability in the built environment. Adults outside the traditional education system, but eager to stay informed and relevant, will benefit from the accessible and flexible hybrid learning opportunities provided. The content is tailored to enable learners to explore cutting-edge solutions that integrate technology with sustainable practices.
- Ensure Inclusivity for Learners in Challenging Circumstances providing educational opportunities to individuals from regions disrupted by conflict, such as those affected by the war in Ukraine. Through online learning materials and virtual participation options, the project ensures continuity in education for students and professionals facing displacement.
- Facilitate Industry-Academia Collaboration for Relevance to ensure that the skills and knowledge imparted align with current and future industry demands. This collaboration guarantees that learners gain exposure to real-world workflows, tools, and case studies, particularly those that emphasize interdisciplinarity—bridging design, manufacturing, and project execution phases. By integrating industry insights, the curriculum maintains its practical focus and enhances employability outcomes for graduates.
