Public housing discourse has long been dominated by the supposed ‘best practices’ models of the Global North. This sidelines the development trajectories of public housing in other geographies like the Global South, post-colonial or post-socialist spaces and the lack of theoretical background impedes the researchers wanting to work amidst these spaces. The course aims at filling this gap and broadening the discourse around public housing to equip early-career researchers with the tools to form a perspective on these geographies. The course will specifically address forms of public housing in the context of India, Russia, and Brazil. We will explore these cases together with the extra support of the guest lecturers (researchers and activists) who will share the knowledge of how the particular programs of public housing are designed in contexts different from the models of Global North.

The first session of the course on April 6th will be a general presentation of the course and its activities. Students are also welcome to start from the second week (April 13th). Please feel free to participate even if you are not yet enrolled. For enrollment proceed go to our Bison page.

The course will take place at Belvedererer Allee 5 (IfEU) - Seminarraum 007, Wednesdays, 13h30 - 15h.
